I realize that Racket News and podcasts should focus on domestic affairs in order to appeal to the audience. And when Racket focuses on foreign affairs there is subscriber pushback. But perhaps some short discussion about what is going on in the world would be palatable for most readers. Much going on ...maybe it is time for Racket to grow into Racket at Home and Racket Abroad? You can have that for free!! :)
Love this new feature, and the library is great. Great stuff lately in general. I'd love to see some of the features that were here and didn't make it get another spin: the weekly news beat, the interviews with other interesting Substackers/podcasters, "Meet the Censored," etc. Some of it may not get read right away — I'm super behind on the library features, though I read your pieces and listen to the pod right away — but it's nice content for a lazy Sunday of reading.
I know there's pushback in the comments for some of the more controversial takes — I'm looking at you, Mahmoud Khalil pieces — but a lot of us that have been subscribers for years like these pieces, and think they belong here.
Must decouple from China, and yes we can manufacture what we need here.
And on Thursday, Swiss drug giant Novartis announced it will spend $23 billion over the next five years to build a research hub in San Diego, expand three U.S. plants, and build six new ones.
Read this from a Bernie speach: what's not to like and Walt no Trump is not what I would d3efine as a great politician. What you smoken on the prairie lands on Montana Walt.
Bernie:
"Trump] thinks that climate change is a hoax. He’s dangerously wrong,” Sanders warned. “And you and I are going to have to stand up to the fossil fuel industry and tell them to stop destroying this planet.”
The Trump Administration has taken multiple actions that threaten to dismantle climate mitigation efforts since January—from the rollback of protections at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and an Executive Order to increase logging, to mass staff cuts at prominent agencies including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
“This country faces some very difficult challenges, and the future of what happens to America is dependent upon your generation,” Sanders opened his speech saying, appealing to the younger members of the crowd. “Now you can turn away and ignore what goes on, but if you do that, you do so at your own peril. We need you to stand up and fight for justice, to fight for economic justice, social justice, and racial justice.”
Thanks for this Racket Rewind feature! It’s really nice!

Lol
Lol - “transitory inflation” is one those terms that didn’t exist just few years ago. Like “vegan cheese” - it’s just a not a thing.
