A decent US administration would have used its influence to promote peace/compromise between these 2 nations. Compromise is the way of the world, and isn't always a betrayal of one's ideals, but a response to the realities on the ground, and recognition of the rights of others as well as yourself.
Decent US administrations (going back to the breakup of the Soviet Union) wouldn't have pushed the Russian bear into a corner and then poked it in the eye, resulting in the 2022 invasion.
