I think that those organizations exist in a cultural bubble. I also think that they have shareholders. I think that they have been set up to fail and this is mostly the carnage that follows from trying to censor a public forum. They are also more incompetent and less technologically advanced than they would like to admit.
They require regulation. They've overstepped their bounds. In their current state, they are no different than ATT at its height, a necessary public utility that has colluded with others to fix prices/destroy competition (based on what I've read so far). I moved away from Google search many years ago. I still use a few of their products but am assessing moving the rest of my infrastructure away from them. The good news...many have awakened and realize that Google, despite its original founding principals, is not your friend. Also, Facebook/Insta, twitter, Apple, Microsoft etc. - not your friends. Their behavior is accelerating their competition.
