The Vice President excoriates Europe for suppressing electoral results, delegitimizing political constituencies, and censorship. The full decontextualized speech
Watching a two or three hour interview of anybody (Vance, RFK, Tulsi, or Zuck) gives you a much better idea of their capabilities than rehearsed three-minute clips on MSNBC. Rogan, Tucker Carlson, Bret Weinstein, doesn't matter who interviews.
I came away more impressed with the first three, less so with Zuck.
He is intelligent but we don't have more free speech in this regime . It's still cancel culture. Trump is scary and threatening when folks disagree with him.
I agree Trump uses strong and disagreeable language. But the clearest, most onerous, (and most numerous) instances of "cancel culture" in the US have almost entirely come from the previous Administration and most major media/social networks. I won't do a full rehash, but there was a great deal of deplatforming on social media for expressing simply a concern over Covid vaccinations and social-distancing rules, and arguing against governments shutting down businesses. Just misgendering a person could also get you "cancelled" in work, gov't, and academia. I encourage you to read accounts from university professors suspended or fired, or guest speakers on campus who were "uninvited" to speak after being cancelled. If this was all being driven by conservatives, you would have certainly heard about it, but most of these stories were generally ignored by most "mainstream" news outlets.
I will gladly put up with "scary" tweets, offensive comments, and hurt feelings any day over censorship, livelihoods being threatened, and systemic deplatforming.
I don’t think that most people are aware of the extent of censorship under Biden. The Twitter Files—which in my opinion was a bigger story than Watergate—was drastically underreported. You had documented information showing government agencies, including the FBI, repeatedly calling tech platforms and asking for private citizens and organizations that disagreed with government narratives to be shadow-banned or removed. It just doesn’t get more authoritarian than that. Newsom actually signed a law in California that any doctor who deviated from Fauci/CDC Covid guidelines could have his or her license taken away. He quietly disappeared this decree when it looked like he might run for national office.
And I have heard more than one person defend this censorship, excusing it as necessary (for "public health" or to "combat hate") -- or even arguing that it never occurred at all.
Vance just revealed that people in Scotland could conceivably be reported to the police if they are suspected of praying within their own homes, but Trump is "scary & threatening." These are not the same things, Mary, not at all.
No, he's J.D. Vance, Vice President of the US, and he was there in full form behind a podium. Maybe you are unused to American idioms. A "talking head" refers to a news broadcaster who typically sits behind a desk and reads from a teleprompter. Maybe you mean "ventriloquist's dummy," since that would be the appropriate image for what it looks like you are trying to say.
What leads you to believe Vance was not involved in composing this address? Who is his speechwriter, and what sort of relationship do you think a President or other Cabinet member has with his speechwriters? "Yeah, Fred? J.D. here. I'm speaking to European military brass next week and need a snappy speech that will get their undies in a bunch. Throw in lots of stuff about Muslim terror and censorship and democracy."
"If the DNC had won and he was on their side, he would be standing there repeating the same nonsense as before":
If Vance was "on the DNC side"? that's a mighty big "if." Right. If Trump were Biden, he would be repeating Biden's nonsense.
"The important thing" is that our VP let our European allies know we're watching them turn into a totalitarian continent under the boot of the EU and its unelected technocrats, and that we are also watching those here at home who are on board with them and see us mere citizens as widgets in their international power games.
You clearly don’t know what “hagiography” means. No one has so far compared Vance to a saint or said he is one. But he did make an excellent, much deserved speech, which he may well have written himself given his history as a writer and speaker.
On the All-In Podcast on Friday, the AI/Crypto Czar tech billionaire, David Sachs, said , when asked, that he did not help J.D. and J.D. was very capable of expressing himself without help.
Democracy would indicate that you have lost a conversation that you started. Thats quintessential self own. This might be the epitome of self own. From now on self owns shall be called Kenny’s
False introspective and repeating D talking points is, indeed, a self-own.
If you want to challenge the thoughts and ideology of the commentors here, you need to actually think about what you are saying, and back it up with facts.
I suspect you either don’t like people speaking the truth, or you’re just not used hearing it among those you endorse. Maybe your mind will advance when you’re exposed to decency long enough.
Ouch! "Maybe your mind will advance when you’re exposed to decency long enough" is a thermonuclear burn if you think about it for a second. Thankfully Kenny's attention span isn't that long.
Everything I have seen of him speaking extemporaneously & how he responds in interviews tells me he's the real deal. I read his book long ago before he went into politics. His is a true American story.
You never know. If you want to see an example of someone's words having an impact I recommend - "Liberating a Continent: John Paul II & the Fall of Communism".
now all of the sudden he is treated like a saint because of what the RNC-blob wants to do? The people in this thread are acting like lovestruck democratic primary voters.
Ken, NO. Vance isn’t just a talking head. And I suspect your “speechwriter somewhere” is a shiny object to divert the subject away from…well, the subjects at hand — What is it that Europe values and will they wake up and see the very bad direction in which they’re heading - unless they want to end up more authoritarian than they are right now?
They’re in trouble and way too many of them refuse to see it.
The citizens really do seem like they are in some type of trance. Someone said that now in Europe the centrists are socialist, so anyone right of that is called “far right.”
As every other Politician has their speechwriter do. Did he have a speechwriter answer the questions brought forth to him during his dismantling of the MSM shills? He is the future. He represents what this administration is birthing while burying the past.
Not sure I agree with your first paragraph, but I do find myself wondering how much of the speech writing Vance does himself and how much is collaborative. It's very well done, regardless.
Poor Ken. He is just sad and jealous that he neither possesses the ability or the intellect to counter J.D.'s speech. He has to rely on regurgitated, legacy media pablum.
He's saying the same things now that he's said throughout his political career. The same things he was saying even before the election when the desiccated horse's ass Joe Biden was stinking up the Oval Office.
Vance is very smart. He could be President after Trump. What difference does it make whether he writes his own speeches. Most of the posters here are of a bent where they seem to be enamored by him. He sure did a number on Walz in their debate. He has a little of that G.W. Bush thing, compassionate conservatism. These right-wing parties are taking over in a lot of countries (including ours truly), are gaining popularity, it seems the big issue is over immigration. Vance just gives the usual simplistic red meat anti-immigrant spiel, one crackpot terrorist kills and stabs people, and therefore, kick all of them out. I'm being the devil's advocate here - maybe not that coherently.
No, Goebbels did not invent propaganda. That distinction goes to Gregory XV, Pope of Rome. Even in the modern political sphere, Goebbels credited American Progressives for developing his method. Woodrow Wilson's Committee on Public Information, and in particular the work of Edward Bernays, in ginning up American support to enter WWI were the pattern for Goebbels and the Nazis propaganda machine.
DNY — After Ramesses II barely survived the Battle of Kadesh in 1274 BC, he went home and splashed his great “victory” all over the walls of buildings and monuments. I’m sure someone can come up with an even earlier example.
Maybe you should actually read a history of propaganda before commenting on the matter again. In particular, familiarize yourself with the three individuals I mentioned in my post. Even wikipedia's entry on propaganda will disabuse you of that silly notion.
You’re right, propaganda was invented long before Goebbels, but Goebbels certainly “refined” it. Hitler writes extensively about propaganda in “Mein Kampf”, before he met Goebbels, too.
True. Propaganda, if anything, evolved over hundreds of years and changes with available technology. Goebbels might be the father of modern propaganda, but that is a generous assertion.
I see, you're using his method. You think if you repeat a lie often enough it will be accepted as true. I don't think you're very good at it. Goebbels and before him Bernays had a much better grasp of how to do that.
Indeed. The point of pointing to Wilson was a remark Goebbels made attributing his methods to Bernays and Wilson's CPI, not that he was the originator. (I did credit Gregory XV, Pope of Rome.)
You’ve obviously never perused political rhetoric or political cartoons/media commentary on issues such as immigration and slavery from the pre-Civil War US zeitgeist, on all sides of the issues.
As Abraham Lincoln told Harriet Beecher Stowe “So you’re the little lady who started this war”.
I believe this will go down in the pantheon of US speeches on European soil as approaching the poignance of “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.”
He calls them to something greater, and finishes with JP2’s invocation — echoing Christ himself — “do not fear.” We’ll see if they respond in courage or continue to cower.
Thank you, Matt, for simply providing the entirety of the text.
And stepping back: it’s great to see the vice president take up the highlights of Matt’s research over the last years and turn it into a battering ram!
It’s pretty revealing that most of the EU political class’s reaction was to this speech was to lose their minds, pull the proverbial fire alarm and cry fascism. They’re terrified that European voters might actually hear this speech and start doing crazy things like demanding policy changes or electing representatives who actually share their values and will legislate accordingly. One thing that’s a given both here in the US as well as the EU: Anything that potentially endangers the ability of even a single one of our entrenched, bloated, useless elected leaders to keep parasitically clinging to their offices is going to be branded as “fascist.”
Just pure insanity that some (many) will not only deride the thrust of the speech, but will engage with the usual vitriol and label this view as racist, antithetical, xenophobic, and the like.
When I read the entire speech, I was struck by how it managed to do two things simultaneously:
1) It really doesn't come across as combative or scolding or even particularly controversial in its delivery.
2) ...and yet at the same time, it was a masterful call-out of the troubling direction the EU has been headed in for some time. It asked them what their true values are, and why they are afraid of speech, afraid of their own people. Of course, EU leaders were left stuttering and clutching their pearls, with no good answer for this - because we all know the real answer, and it isn't an answer they can publicly admit to.
Kudos to Vance for a bold speech that managed to be ballsy and yet articulate, critically honest, and a stark reminder of what happens when we erase democracy in the attempt to "preserve it."
Oh, and the Greta Thunberg comment was so spot-on, I laughed out loud.
It was a landmark speech, and I don't use that term lightly.
And that is the best he could come up with after, according to the FT, running off into a room with some advisors to rewrite his speech in response to JD's rhetorical stun grenade. No substance. Just: "hey, you're not allowed to say that!" Two things are certain to me: That speech will go down in history, and history will not remember the name, Boris Pistorius.
Came here to say the same thing. He'd pause at an applause line and...you'd hear a faint golf clap from the back. 😂😂😂😂 I could not have loved this more.
Also fear of laughing. I thought the Greta Thunberg line was pretty funny.
Vance: "I say this with all humor — if American democracy can survive ten years of Greta Thunberg’s scolding you guys can survive a few months of Elon Musk."
They might be caught on camera clapping, or be reported by someone nearby, and have a visit from their local police or security services later wanting to "discuss" it with them.
Most people don't clap when they're being criticized. I'm not saying EU, UK doesn't deserve a tongue lashing, but wait and see how much they'll hate us.
Every word was true. Why do we have NATO if Western Europe is practicing authoritarianism? It was one of the most articulate speeches ever uttered by a US politician. Truth to power.
They can continue to devolve in their hate of honesty if they choose. Or, they can realize they have been going down a very dark, oppressive track for some time now, and pull out of it while they still can. The choice is theirs - but we, as Americans, aren't going to abide it silently, nor will we defend them if they continue to do so.
I lived and worked in Switzerland in the 80's and learned German. Once I spoke the language, I learned that the unwashed masses like us just fine. Now that I speak Spanish, I am finding the same thing in Latin America. An Uber driver went on a pro Trump rant a few years back. It is only the chattering classes that hate us.
Yes, I’ve found out that foreign Uber drivers aren’t freaked out by Trump, they have a much broader understanding of things that your average NPR-EU adjacent technocrat tool.
I had a similar experience when visiting Rome in August 2019. Our family's Italian tour guide had no qualms letting us know he (and most people he knew) was pro-Trump, along with a list of reasons why. It was refreshing to get a foreign citizen's perspective.
The EU is scared shitless of the Trump administration. Nigel Farage and Reform UK have him as an ally, but the UK may be toast well before Farage can get into the PM position. That totalitarian EU tool Starmer is doing his best to turn England into an EU vassal state despite Brexit, that democratic choice that both Labor and Conservative parties have pretty successfully undermined, especially by allowing boatloads of migrants ashore daily (what are the numbers up to now?). The contempt of the UK political class and their media lapdogs for working class "gammon" is enraging. Their attitude is, "Go ahead and let military-age migrant men enslave our girls and turn them out as private prostitutes to our pervert comrades. They're beneath our contempt. We consider them barnyard animals, just like those fine upstanding third-world gentlemen pimping them out do. Let them take over our towns and build their Madrasas because we are terrified of not letting them do so. Besides, if we give them local authority to create Muslim ghettos, they might vote for us."
I always thought the Brits had some gumption based on World War II, but seeing their recent behavior I am pretty disgusted. They have permitted child rape without becoming outraged and allowed absolute morons to tell them to shut up. At what point do you have the responsibility to react? Or does the whole country just roll over?
I'm not sure how much they'll resent us, but I do know two things: (1) many ordinary people enduring an Orwellian existence in European countries welcome our new administration, and (2) Western European leaders rely on the U.S. far more than we rely on them. As the realities of the shifting power balance become clearer in an increasingly dangerous world—and as they recognize that foreign aid won’t flow as freely as before—I suspect they’ll come to Trump and Vance, hat in hand, insisting they were supporters of the new administration all along.
There are a lot of people in the EU, UK, who will hear the sound of liberation in Vance's words, just as a lot of people here in the US heard that same sound in Trump's.
This Munich speech of Vice President Vance will go down in history as one of the most profound, along JFK’s and Reagan’s 20th century speeches in Berlin.
European leaders have become so smug, that a joke highlighting the irony of Greta Thunberg lecturing American leaders for 10 years does not even bring smiles to the faces of our allies.
And yet, the brilliant mind of Elon Musk sometimes veering off into the highway shoulder of irony creates mayhem and despair.
The last sentence of the Vice President’s speech should be taken seriously.
And THANK YOU Matt for presenting this historical speech in full.
The one thing that would have made this speech better is admitting that the US and NATO are together responsible for causing much of the intense wave of migration by incessantly destabilizing and overthrowing the governments of other sovereign nations.
That's only part of the cause, but admittedly a part. The biggest draw to foreigners is the vast difference in freedom and economic opportunity available to people in the West vs. the poor and Muslim ruled countries. The West has proven definitively that our system is the best for improving the human condition, and systems based on religion, corruption, and cronyism are the worst.
It doesn’t help, but even without our interventions, these countries will have plenty of people trying to escape the harsh realities of living in the stone ages of history due to a religion that traps them there. The irony, is they want to bring it with them, as if that’s not the root of the problem to begin with.
Those leaders in that room did NOT want to hear the truth of their actions. The rot coming from within is an invitation to the threat from without. Hopefully we in America are realizing this fact. I sincerely hope the EU does as well. Vance’s speech was masterful.
No, the leaders did not want to hear that. I usually agree with eugyppius, who criticized this speech on that basis, but I think it was meant for the citizenry and not the leaders.
A few of the leaders might actually realize that, and it might instill the fear of the voting citizenry in them. They could sure use a little of that.
He broke with the entire Atlanticist convention with that speech, and it was relatively mild, compared to what it could have been. I imagine that he didn't want to overshadow Hegseth's monumental break with the Atlanticist convention on Ukraine.
Vance’s speech and Hegseth’s less publicized speech to NATO are a perfect pair, a pair of aces. I disagree that the latter’s speech was only about Ukraine, it was more generally a decades long overdue call to Europe to stop free riding on America and take responsibility for its own defence. After all Europe has long had the population, wealth and technology to do just that. The quiet part though is that by now Europe is running on fumes, which is to say hot air which is much the same thing. So Boris lamely mouths “unacceptable.” Really Boris, is that all you’ve got? And the band played on!
I agree Vance's speech was spot on, but Hegeth's was amateur hour. Even though the observation that Ukraine will likely have to cede some territory to Russia to secure peace was and is true, it is not something that should have been said at the outset of negotiations toward the peace publicly. Telling Zelensky as much privately would have been fine, but saying it aloud with Putin in the implied audience will embolden him to try to keep everything he seized, when the carrot-and-stick approach Trump has been hinting at since the campaign started (with the American media only reporting the carrot) could pry some territory back.
Personally I think that Ukraine should only cede territory that meets four criteria: (1) it is currently Russian occupied, (2) it was not part of the Ukrainian S.S.R. in 1930, (3) it was majority Russian speaking before 2014, and (4) it voted for Yanukovic's Party of the Regions in the last Ukrainian election before the Maidan Uprising. Borders could be fiddled with slightly to make them more defensible on both sides, but if it doesn't meet all four of my criteria, Ukraine should hold out for its return, while if it does, Ukraine should be willing to let it go to secure peace.
And then there’s Zelensky’s opening position which he recently articulated: nuclear arms and a million man army recruited from the rest of Europe. Meanwhile the majority of Ukrainians now want this thing to be over, they want opposition parties and elections and most importantly they want the meat grinder to stop grinding.
While I don’t disagree about the tact of not bringing up Ukrainian territorial concessions until negotiations actually commence, the on the ground reality is that the modern and historical boundaries of Ukraine have been highly flexible on the periphery. The modern, 1992-2014 border of Ukraine was only in place since 1956, when Nikita Kruschev “gifted” the Crimean Peninsula to the Ukrainian SSR, under the umbrella of the USSR. Large portions of Western Ukraine-albeit with Ukrainian speaking citizens-only came into the Ukrainian SSR after WW2, from Poland and Romania. The Donbas, where most of the disputed territory is located, was a Russian speaking province of the Russian Empire when industrial development began in the 19th century. As a Ukrainian, with family still in Ukraine, the physical and political reality , and continued existence, of a free, Western oriented Ukraine is far more important than the Robocop Detroit territories in the Donbass. No one needs a Belarus 2.0, which is what Putin wants for Ukraine.
I agree, which means there is no negotiations. Looks like the US is walking away from this. Ukraine Regime and its backers seem to be a nexus of Russia Gate, his impeachment and a lot of money laundering to his opponents. I feel bad for the Ukraine people.
I too feel bad for ordinary Ukrainians which is why I wrote what I did above. One of the virtues of democratic nations is supposed to be that they don’t go to war without the consent of the people. It was different at the outset but now it is obvious that Zelenskyy no longer has the people’s consent to continue this senseless struggle. Putin is a real bastard, that is understood but sometimes the best thing that can be done with warring parties is not to take sides but to separate them.
Being what one might call a “liberator” and what I call a “global policeman” has become very bloody, very expensive, and has allowed for massive corruption. The US taxpayer can no longer afford this. What was once reasonable given our unique manufacturing status after WW2, is now leading the US down a path to insolvency. We must change in a multi-polar world, or end up like Great Britain or Rome. Trump is right to try and offload some of that responsibility/obligation, IMHO.
My European friends have two months or more of paid time off a year and free healthcare. Why are we going into debt to protect them? It’s time for them to stand on their own so we can get our own house in order.
They haven't needed protection for 35 years. NATO is a way to funnel money to the MIC, most bloated useless part of Corp America. It's all funnelling taxpayer money to connected Corp. Many very badly run.
They close up shop and go on holiday. My husband worked for Ericsson here, Sweden and Norway so we had many friends from there. My friend moved here from Amsterdam and married another friend who was from Sweden. She brought her children to the states but ended up sending them back to her ex in Amsterdam. The youngest had autism and after realizing that we had no healthcare and over there she had an au pair and programs for him as well as healthcare she said he was better off there. She sent the oldest back when she realized how much a college education was going to cost here. That part of the world has great people with a high standard of living but I couldn't live in a place where summer comes on a Tuesday and you freeze for the rest of the year.
A shot fired across the bow of Western European fascists. Letting them know, we see your bullshit and there is a very definite limit to how much of this we will put up with.
Awesome speech about real democracy! Should have made all democracy loving Americans proud. The overwhelming propaganda surrounding it tells us just how good it was. You can't claim to defend democracy when you don't even pretend to practice it. Good for Vance! It felt good to watch and I was waiting for him to say " Fuck you I'm an American." like someone else we all know.
Matt Taibbi really got the coverage analysis rolling on the *epic JDVance throwdown* with his fresh “mask drops” piece — posted a tad more than two hours ago in Racket News… 👍

The #Blob talking points from all over are going to be a hoot & a half 🤣🤣🤣
Great speech…and sad that a speech full of common sense points that make you go “well, duh!” Is considered great, but here we are. Thankful for JD Vance standing up there and taking those stares while delivering this!
Standing tall and delivering! Happy that we do have some leaders who demonstrate solid statesmanship, mixed among the countless morons.
What's funny is none of them quite understand that with DOGE the entire world has become one big crime scene.
Quite literally.
He's just a talking head, if the DNC had won and he was on their side, he would be standing there repeating the same nonsense as before.
The important thing is that there is a speechwriter somewhere with a lot of organized human thought and planning behind him/her/them.
Perhaps you should watch candid, live interviews with JD Vance. His intelligence exceeds all Congressional Democrats combined.

Exactly. He is a genuine, caring patriot & we are fortunate to have him.

hagiography is the key to solving our problems?

Bull Hubbard for the win! It's not a competition, but to say "He's just a talking head" is the worst sort of self own.
hagiography of a politician is not a severe self own?
You clearly don’t know what “hagiography” means. No one has so far compared Vance to a saint or said he is one. But he did make an excellent, much deserved speech, which he may well have written himself given his history as a writer and speaker.

It was an excellent speech. I hope JD Vance is authentic, and that he means what he said.
Time will tell.
Everything I have seen of him speaking extemporaneously & how he responds in interviews tells me he's the real deal. I read his book long ago before he went into politics. His is a true American story.
I read his book years ago too. When it first came out. Impressive.
Impressive is the word that springs to mind every time I hear him speak.
Very well said.

You really don't have much to run on, do you?
The “God bless you” at the end must’ve really rankled that audience.
About time they were rankled.
Comment on Vance's speech:
"...FRAMING HIS TAKES IN TERMS OF ELITES, the effects on THE PEOPLE SITTING IN THE CHAIRS IN THE AUDIENCE OF the security conference.
and he’s likely mostly or entirely correct about how they will take it.
but THEY WERE NOT THE AUDIENCE OF THE SPEECH, the PEOPLE OF THE EU WERE.
THE POPULIST OPPOSITION MOVEMENTS TO THEM WERE." (emphasis mine)

EU probably censored his speech, so the people of the EU wouldn’t be subject to “misinformation.”

when did you first hear of J.D. Vance? When he was picked as VP? Now he is a saint and we must do hagiography?
Was he a thought leader during the Biden admin saying no NATO for Ukraine and calling for an end to the war?

In 2023, he had an epiphany:

so he will say whatever the RNC blob speechwriters tell him to say.

Who has said he’s a saint? You’re imagining things. Praising a speech is is hardly hagiography.

now all of the sudden he is treated like a saint because of what the RNC-blob wants to do? The people in this thread are acting like lovestruck democratic primary voters.
BOT BOT BOT.
there is this too, 24 months ago, https://www.businessinsider.com/gop-candidate-jd-vance-i-dont-care-what-happens-ukraine-2022-2
Haha! If the DNC won, that would have been the hilariously awkward Tim Walz doing his gumby act for the world.
Maybe Timmy could’ve given them a tutorial on how to load a shotgun for when those Euros go fox hunting.
I can’t help but picture Tim Waltz in a hunting episode of Downton Abbey…
Walz would drop his pants, bend over, and spread his cheeks.
And shove a tampon up his arse
Lolol
<cringe>
I agree with you where the hell are the citizens ? They voted for these people they better vote them out it’s sick.
The citizens really do seem like they are in some type of trance. Someone said that now in Europe the centrists are socialist, so anyone right of that is called “far right.”
https://www.businessinsider.com/gop-candidate-jd-vance-i-dont-care-what-happens-ukraine-2022-2
You keep copying and pasting this article like it's sone kind of own. It's not. It's mostly irrelevant.
It’s also from THREE years ago.
Yes Heidi, you got it. Ol' Kenny Boy just can't seem to come up with anything...except for Business Insider. Very impressive data mining Kenny.
As every other Politician has their speechwriter do. Did he have a speechwriter answer the questions brought forth to him during his dismantling of the MSM shills? He is the future. He represents what this administration is birthing while burying the past.
I’m willing to concede speechwriters are in the process but this is him. What I’ve seen of JD Vance this is genuine.
I’m not willing to concede “talking head”.
https://www.businessinsider.com/gop-candidate-jd-vance-i-dont-care-what-happens-ukraine-2022-2
Not sure I agree with your first paragraph, but I do find myself wondering how much of the speech writing Vance does himself and how much is collaborative. It's very well done, regardless.
I have seen him speak off the cuff, he is very sharp and that's a compliment I would give to few politicians including Trump.
There's nothing like a two or three hour interview with Rogan or Carlson or whoever to give you a pretty good idea of someone's capabilities.
Really? THIS is what you see? If so, then you are missing out watching the evolution of a great statesman.
If he was on their side? What kind of moron are you?
The D's would never allow someone on their side to speak truth to power, let alone opinions outside the "consensus."
you are in love with him and not thinking clearly.
Shut up, retard.
You have to watch Vance’s Rogan interview! He’s awesome, you really get a feel for who he is, and he’s unscripted.
He's far more than a talking head, he's a wildly intelligent man who can speak coherent thoughts clearly and concisely.
Can you imagine Ho Ho Harris doing that? Or Tampon Timmy? Not a chance.
Poor Ken. He is just sad and jealous that he neither possesses the ability or the intellect to counter J.D.'s speech. He has to rely on regurgitated, legacy media pablum.
I'm for 100% everything in the speech, I'm just saying J.D. is not some hero of the resistance. Before someone clued him in he said this: https://www.businessinsider.com/gop-candidate-jd-vance-i-dont-care-what-happens-ukraine-2022-2
What does Vance's attitude toward the Ukraine proxy war have to do with the lack of free speech rights in Europe?
He's saying the same things now that he's said throughout his political career. The same things he was saying even before the election when the desiccated horse's ass Joe Biden was stinking up the Oval Office.
He isn't same the same thing he did before about trump being like Hitler - was he right then? or now, when changing his mind catapulted him to power.
not really https://www.businessinsider.com/gop-candidate-jd-vance-i-dont-care-what-happens-ukraine-2022-2
There ya go again!
Pretty naive thing to say.
Remember Mark Twain before speaking.
this was the great thought leader 24 months ago Mark Twain: https://www.businessinsider.com/gop-candidate-jd-vance-i-dont-care-what-happens-ukraine-2022-2
Why don't you post this link 27 more times? We missed the first 27 times.
Lol
I agree with his stance on Ukraine & I agree with his remarks on free speech.
I don't see any contradiction here.
What is your point in reposting this spam?
Vance probably writes his own speeches and gets it right on the first draft.
There was plenty of propaganda long before Woodrow wilson.
Why on earth would I resent Joesph Goebbels for anything?
One has to admire Secretary Rubio's polite restraint.
I mean wow. Just wow.
Is it any wonder the American people have no use for "the media(TM)"?
Interesting CBS clip. Not sure if they actually ran out of time or they wanted to cut Rubio off. Anyway, he was articulate.
Yes. It's one of the most consequential speeches ever given in my lifetime.
What a badass VP we have. The days of milquetoast VPs is done!
Absolutely perfect balance/complement to Trump.
Agreed. SO much better than Pence.
Literally no comparison
Yup 🍎& 🍊
I wouldn’t utter the old, traitorous VP’s name in the same sentence with J.D.
Pence was a Deep State plant sent to spy on Trump & leak information to the press through the FBI & others.
Pence is a pussy.
Pence is literally afraid to appear in public w/out his wife…
Vance continues to surprise and impress.
Incidentally, that would be 'complement'.
Thanks!
I wholeheartedly agree!
"Ich bin ein Berliner", perhaps?
It makes a good bookend to Reagan’s speech:”Mr Putin, all of Europe is yours. The US will not save our allies.”
JD’s presentation led to an outbreak of “fear of clapping”
What's incredible is that Boris Pistorius (German Sec of Defense) said this right after the Vance speech:
“If I understood him correctly, he is comparing parts of Europe with authoritarian regimes. This is not acceptable.”
What an own-goal.
He admitted in broad daylight their tyrannical view of us peasants by basically calling Vance's speech on free speech unacceptable speech.
Oh the gormless squealing is a dream come true to watch in real time.
That was the sound of Pistorious realizing the jig is up, and his ilk are in danger of a short-shelf life.
Spot on.
This shit ain't hard. All Trump is doing is replacing nonsense with common sense
And "Boris Pistorius" sounds like a good name for a comic book villain, anyway.
Who can take this guy seriously?
Exactly. Pistorius didn't say Vance was wrong, just that it was not acceptable for him to say it.
“If I understood him correctly, he is comparing parts of Europe with authoritarian regimes. This is not acceptable.”
It's cute the way Pistorius believes that somebody somewhere cares what he thinks is acceptable.
Did anyone outside of that meeting get to hear it? It sounded like its intended audience was the general population, not the elite at that meeting.
Thats exactly right. It was a grenade thrown at the elites but intended to be a clarion call for the people
I trust Oscar Pistorius more that that Kraut.
They were too AFRAID to clap. That's exactly the point he's making. Censorship kills everything.
Exactly!
They might be caught on camera clapping, or be reported by someone nearby, and have a visit from their local police or security services later wanting to "discuss" it with them.
One of my favorite lines in any speech, ever!!!
While the MSM and Drudge soil their undergarments….
The muted response echoed across the world.
Oh no were they clapping for the weird guy?
I agree, but I don't expect good from the EU, NATO, UN, WEF, WHO, that most corrupt country, Ukraine.
When power is threatened, all bets are off.
So basically you could have delivered the exact same message in just three sentences!
This is my understanding, too.
We already know how much they hate us. That’s why Vance gave them both barrels.
I don't want it to be too late for the USA.
Well said
Re UK - yes they do deserve a severe tongue-lashing for some of the worst censorship anywhere!!!!
I'd like your assessment to be right.
There are a lot of people in the EU, UK, who will hear the sound of liberation in Vance's words, just as a lot of people here in the US heard that same sound in Trump's.
That is, IF they were even allowed to hear Vance's speech at all.
Good point!
I really did enjoy the Thunberg reference.
America puts best foot forward. Long overdue and very welcome. What a difference an election makes!
By design
It doesn’t help, but even without our interventions, these countries will have plenty of people trying to escape the harsh realities of living in the stone ages of history due to a religion that traps them there. The irony, is they want to bring it with them, as if that’s not the root of the problem to begin with.
YES!
Thank you!
VP Vance responded to Eugyppius’ criticism and stated it was also on the U.S. as we had leadership who pushed censorship as well.
Yep, I saw that.
I thought the same.
Now Vance needs to give a tongue-lashing to our profligate Congress!!!
Best Vice President. Ever.
Picture the Kamala trying to address the same audience, bewildering translators world-wide with the jumbo serving of word salad.
C'mon William, of course Kamala would've done a better job. Kamala always plans ahead.
Dont you remember the election?!
She told us she had a plan. She said her plan indeed was a plan. Her plan is such a plan, it is a plan. Kamala's plan is a plan that she has.
Something along the lines of “Our collective, must unburden its history, from what has been, to think alike even more” (hand gestures)…..
Don’t forget the “laugh”!
We gather here to gather ourselves together I order to unite as a united people gathering here.
It’s painful to even imagine.
+ a line of coke beforehand
Worse: Tim Walz.
Walz would be telling the EU that the most important thing we can do defeat Russia is to support abortions for trans men.
Well, Thomas Jefferson was the first VP……
Trump1.0 didn't have speechwriters like this. The opposition to the DNC has really got their stuff together for Trump2.0.
He’ll never admit it publicly, but Vance and Musk were both not impressed with Trump 1.0. He upped his game and brought in MUCH better people.
The media is reporting this as a far right wing rant. I'm not sure what speech they read. And I'm no fan of Trump or Vance.
Common sense is extreme now.
The only thing in shorter supply is bullshit meters.
But i guess they're two sides of the same coin.
And free speech is a key enabler of fascism apparently.
VERY curious to see how MSM vs alternative media (however defined) spun this 💥epic 💥 JDV speech.
Broken down, as in compare & contrast the emphasis & content of the coverage, between Europe & America…. And elsewhere…
The message Vance delivered is *so crisp & clear.*
But so many of the messengers conveying it are, shall we say… i fear deeply prone to omission and distortion ⁉️
Matt Taibbi really got the coverage analysis rolling on the *epic JDVance throwdown* with his fresh “mask drops” piece — posted a tad more than two hours ago in Racket News… 👍

How is this not against freedom of religion in Scotland and England?
I guess they’re afraid of the part where God will hear the silent prayers of people behind closed doors in their homes!
You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder. James 2:19
Reminds me of that quote, I think attributed to Snowden: "In a world full of lies, telling the truth is a revolutionary act."
Orwell: “In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”
Hmmm…I wonder why they would do that?
Great speech…and sad that a speech full of common sense points that make you go “well, duh!” Is considered great, but here we are. Thankful for JD Vance standing up there and taking those stares while delivering this!
