12/05/23: The irony is bitter. All of these people loved Matt until he realized that they were successfully creating an American Media / Medical Gestapo. What he has gone through since 2020 quite possibly cannot be described in words; regardless, a prospective memoir (edited for brevity) would be one hell of a good book.

I’ll preorder it before he writes a word- that’s how much confidence I have in this man!

Actually, a book that interviews Matt, B Weiss, Jenny Hollander, Greenwald, Sash Stone (current favorite) and others about their transition from past to current belief sets would be fascinating. It'd never be published, but fascinating nonetheless.

Along these lines, I recommend "Poking A Dead Frog, Conversations With Today's Top Comedy Writers," by Mike Sacks [b. 1968/69--- ]; Penguin Books [Penguin Random House] (2014; paperback; printed on, alas, toilet paper)

Can’t wait. It is unreal how these people are so dug in on positions where they have fully outsourced their critical thinking to 3rd parties.

Any thoughtful review of every major story of significance over the past 6 years arrives in a position that is at odds with ‘fact checkers’, media pundits, and ‘experts’ ... ie, these people have been wrong at every turn, yet still have the audacity to claim that because someone said it on TV or in print, that it must be trusted or its proof that you’re a Trump supporter.

Track records should mean something. Maybe one day they will again. Go shove some of these nerds in their lockers, Matt!!

"[F]ully outsourced their critical thinking to 3rd parties." That's good. And sadly true.

Nicely put, although I think you're giving these people way too much credit. I have lived among them for years--aggressively blue college town in a very red southern state--and many of them never had any critical thinking skills. I hope a few of them show up, but I'm not holding meh breath.

Thank you for reminding me that "Money is not the root of all evil; the love of money is."

P.S. Anyone who would pay Manhattan prices to live in Brooklyn is a sucker with an X on his wallet, eventually and inevitably fleeced.

This needs to be filmed and shared. I’m so tired of the dickheads in the media running the narrative with no pushback. Thank you Matt for taking this on instead of just keeping quiet and going along with the bullshit just to keep your gig going and keep your friends. You must feel like you’re in the Twilight Zone at the moment.

This is the most fascinating subject of the modern age. I'm blown away that there are folks still denying it let alone calling for more of the censorship. What in the hell has happened to the Democratic party?

The Long March through the Institutions keeps on marching...first Humanities profs, then their students, then their ex-students who became either college admins (commissars) or school teachers, then out into the larger culture into publishing, media, Hollywood, Broadway, arts, and now the March has captured one of our 2 political parties.

The Social Justice faith is the official ideology of educated upscale liberals throughout the Western world, it allows them to hog both assets and virtue and tell themselves that they are leading a righteous moral crusade on behalf of the oppressed.

We are living through probably the largest mass conversion since the Romans converted to Christianity and just like all true believers whose hearts are on fire for Justice, the zealots of Social Justice have no interest in debate or compromise and could give a shit about civil liberties or the Bill of Rights—they have their program, they believe their program is righteous and infallible, and they are going to do anything and everything they can to lock in their program so it's beyond the reach of democratic accountability.

Very well put. Indeed, these ideologues are, as you say, crusaders. And you are absolutely correct in saying that they have no interest in debate, which is why I doubt any of them will show up to debate Taibbi.

I just tried that search both in Google and DuckDuckGo. The difference is stark. Google apparently considers all non-USA sources to be "unreliable". I would guess that they're using the same list of "approved sources" as Wikipedia.

ALERT!! Work at RACKET needs to be here.

Anti-Disinformation Repository at Wikimedia

The Global Advocacy team at the Wikimedia Foundation launched a public mapping to collect anti-disinformation initiatives and tools developed at the local level across Wikimedia projects and create a repository of projects—confident that volunteers and affiliates can use it to better understand the movement's resources against disinformation, easily access and implement these to strengthen their own work addressing this challenge, and get ideas on how to continue curbing false and misleading information worldwide.
