Matt: you could give a speech on the phone book and I would listen. Your commitment and earnestness will shine through. Fear not.. plenty of people feel as I do. Btw, what is a phone book?

As any oldie will tell you,

a phone book is phone directory for a town / city / county (depending on size ) that would list everyone in the area with a phone, name and number.

Haven’t seen one in eons so perhaps this too has gone the way of dinosaurs. You may have heard of YellowPages, that’d be similar just listing businesses in the area, and the pages would literally yellow.

You are welcome

Matt, Moses pleaded with God that he was not an eloquent speaker, and God answered, " Who is it who gives human beings their mouths?" I tell ya who: the same God that gave us our natural rights. I'm glad you will be representing me at DC.

A boy can dream.

I know I don’t comment often, and for good reason. But looking at the lineup of distinguished free speech advocates whose words I’ve come to admire from afar over the years (written and podcasts - literally thousands of hours), this fills me with a tremendous amount of hope.

The sights are set on the assault against our inalienable rights, not in any particular person. And that’s pretty freakin high.

Can you get Professor Jonathan Turley (GW-Law) for this event? His new book, The Indispensable Right is the most eloquent and profound defense of free speech in a long time! I don't know if he would be comfortable sharing a stage with some of the louder and more colorful speakers listed, but he would be an AWESOME addition.

I will make every effort to be there! I live about four hours away, but an easy drive up 95. The date of this is on my dear dad’s birthday. He died two years ago, but would have walked over broken glass to be there, so I will do my best to attend in his honor. Thank you Matt. My respect for you is through the roof for taking a stand to defend free speech!

I myself am an introvert/writer type. But there came a time when I had to embrace public speaking for a while in order to establish myself on my profession. I learned that the key is knowing your subject matter inside and out, backwards and sideways. And know your audience so you do not speak too much over their heads. You will do fine because you have total mastery of the subject matter and you will have a friendly, receptive audience who is smart enough to follow what you are saying. I am excited for you! You are going to be fine and will take your rightful place among the other rock stars!

Good advice on speaking. Knowledge of your subject is key, as you said. Love of your subject Matter helps also. Let’s you and I go give a speech! You first……. 🥹

The awareness of censorship should have reached everyone by now unless you believe mainstream media. Mainstream media keeps you uninformed and afraid. Here are some recent events regarding free speech and censorship:

Missouri vs Biden - Proved in court that the Biden administration (or whoever is running it) has silenced people that tell the truth about things the government is lying about. College professors, medical professionals, many experts in their field were banned from speaking on multiple topics that the government was lying about (Biden's corruption/mental state/ties to Ukraine and election, Covid virus information, vaccine, masks and the tax dollars that created it).

Mark Zuckerburg Statement - He just announced that the government coerced him to censor and ban people who they knew at the time were telling the truth and they used 'fact checkers' and community standards to do it.

Google has been declared a monopoly - A recent ruling declares that they have been manipulating search results to favor political candidates. Banning videos because they don't fit a list of criteria (not about safety, but protecting government and corporations).

RFK Jr was prohibited from becoming a candidate - A democrat was not able to debate Biden or Harris due to the censoring and refusal to replace a president that was not fit for office.

GARM (Global Alliance for Responsible Media) - An organization formed by major corporations to censor media to their advertising would not happen to coincide with stories that reflected badly on them. This resulted in a control of mainstream media by advertisers by threatening to pull ads if content wasn't removed. Elon Musk (X/Twitter) and Rumble started a lawsuit against GARM and they group was immediately shutdown to avoid the lawsuit.

Short and sweet, Matt. Keep it to 3 or less points with a short paragraph each. Don't yell, but speak louder than you normally would.

Slow, loud, short, and directly into the microphone. This is the unsolicited advice i've given as a soundguy for 20 years and watching crowds react to non public speakers for years. Especially an outside event.

Slow, loud, short and directly into the microphone.

Mic too low, too high, not pointing in the right direction? Take 10 seconds and make sure you can comfortably speak directly into the mic....

Love the Racket,

Kurl
