I suspect Ukrainians are not too much different than anyone else. They probably like some Russians better than others and have a variety of political opinions. Probably have about the same number of crooks, saints and in-betweens as others. And local/regional issues are better solved by people who actually understand the ethnicities, cultures and background.
If you believe Nuland on behalf of her employers didn’t interfere in the ongoing peace talks and elsewhere in the run up to current problems, I disagree. Matter is to my view, Nuland is a classic example what you call the “US is the center of the universe” crowd. This nation would do well to butt out of a lot of areas imo, but I’m not holding my breath.

That Nuland was giving out cookies is a rather documented fact. Probably even with the best of intentions. The question is just how much difference did it make, and the answer seems to be "not much" -- not like she told Ukraine something they did not know already.
While sure, we all would be better off if US were to spend a bit more effort back here at home, and not paving roads abroad with good intentions, but it's not like it got even a particularly impressive record of achieving anything, let alone any desired outcome from doing it. Why should Nuland be any different?
Also documented is her phone call when she basically says who is going to be in the post-coup government. The cookies thing is irrelevant. If you cannot see that this was driven by USAID/CIA funds and operatives you have been successfully gaslit.
Ah, yes, of course. Only the Great Nations like the US (and presumably Russia) are allowed to have any kind of agency. Little people just do what they are told and occasionally beg "please sir, may I have another."
